In conjunction with the Lagos Chambers of Commerce & Industry (LCCI), we present a Mentoring opportunity for qualified LIC members, to participate in the LCCI Mentoring Programme, Cohort 3.

This opportunity is aimed at mentoring young entrepreneurs for business success using networks, platforms, and resources available to the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).

MENTEE SELECTION CRITERIA

Mentees must:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the core principles of ethical business, innovative, collaborative, and driven by a clear sense of mission.
  • Demonstrate high potential for top leadership and a desire to take on leadership roles both within and outside their companies.
  • Become active members of the Chamber on completion of the programme.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND CAPACITY

  • Must have the capacity to take advantage of a senior business-minded executive as mentor (i.e. must be able to develop and implement strategic plans, marketing strategy or business plans).
  • Have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a professional/formal setting.
  • Mentee business / organization should have at least a business idea to start up or must have commenced business operations for a period of 6 months.
  • Mentees can be business – men/women, entrepreneurs or social entrepreneurs.
  • Applicants must have leadership/decision-making roles within their company/organization.
  • Mentees must be interested in shaping the future of their business

MENTORING RELATIONSHIP

  • Those selected as mentees must develop an open and on-going relationship with mentors that are mutually constructive. They must be open to receiving positive and constructive feedback and guidance from their mentors as well as from the overall group of mentors and mentees.
  • Mentees must be able to articulate short- and long-term goals and take concrete steps, with guidance from a mentor.

Commitment

The program takes place over a 6 months period

  • Must participate in one-on-one mentoring sessions with their matched mentors (weekly or fortnightly) for a period of 3 months.
  • Must be willing to complete the minimum meeting time with the mentor.
  • May participate in company visit(s) and Exhibitions
  • May be invited to participate in an on-camera interview with their mentor, sharing their experiences, key takeaways, and thoughts on leadership and mentoring.
  • May be invited to participate as a panelist during a Public Forum, address an audience and evaluate the programme.
  • May be invited to give media interviews with local and national press
  • Mentees will be requested to share their business or organization’s business/

       strategic plan with their mentor.

Important to note:

  • We are unable to accept mentees who cannot commit to attending the full program starting with the welcome briefing session and ending with the final farewell on the graduation day.
  • During this program, it is our expectation that each mentee will give full attention to his/her mentor throughout all meetings and training sessions.
  • We request that mentees arrive on time for each session and attend in full

Prior to Commencement:

Prior to the commencement of the program, BEST team will:

  • Schedule 1 or 2 meetings with mentees to provide a more detailed overview of the program;
  • Provide each mentee with a training plan which contains information on the courses and organizations participating as facilitators on the program as well as other relevant information.
