Lagos Island Connect in partnership with GIZ (a German development agency that provides services in the field of international development cooperation and international education) presents a skill acquisition program to train and empower 50 youth in Lagos Island to become self-employed and be equipped with skills in Barbering and Make-up artistry.

The training kick-started on the 5th of July 2021 with an impressive turn-up. It covered both theory and practical aspects where the participants in their different sections were trained on the basics, techniques, and tools/equipment and also things they should and should not do so as to be different and stand out from others already in the field.

In the practical, they were showed the step-by-step process from start to finish. For the makeup section, on bridal makeup, engagement makeup, and also simple/nude makeup while for the barbering, they were taught the round cut, Afro style, low cut, how to die the hair, how to wash the hair, etc. They were as well allowed to practice on their own and corrected in areas where they had errors.

Participants were also trained on online marketing – How to brand their business, and how to get customers online.
